A professional training centre observed a lack of interest amongst learners studying a module on sustainable development as part of a plumbing course. To combat the lack of engagement, tutors worked with Drimify to create a game concept which tackles the issues of sustainable development in the form of an activity spread across several sessions, conveying the journey of a plumber’s resources.
A specific theme from the game’s storyline is put forward during each training session, followed by a debrief and debate providing reflections for the upcoming sessions.
Using the game concept during each session allows us to engage the learners in a theme which they are not particularly interested in.
The subject which seemed to them to be peripheral has suddenly become important and has facilitated a whole range of reflections and debates. A welcome evolution in our approach to skills training.
