In Pacman-style games, players control a character who must successfully eat all the collectibles in a maze without being touched by the roaming enemies. They can also grab power-up items scattered throughout the level, which not only slow down enemies but also allow the players to eat them when weakened for extra points. They then become ghosts that will take a few seconds to return to their starting point and reappear in the game.
To move to the next level of the maze, if there is one, players must absolutely collect all the items without being caught by the enemies to earn as many points as possible. As in the classic Pac-Man arcade and video game, to avoid ghosts, players have the option of teleporting from one side of the maze to the other by using the side portals.
And to help your hero navigate and make their way through the maze, players can use their fingers on a touchscreen or the arrow keys on a computer keyboard.
A Pacman game ends when all the items have been collected and each level completed. However, the game can also end when the hero is caught by the enemies and has no more lives left.
This is a tried and tested game format, perfectly suited to mobile, and that can easily be adapted to become a marketing game or a component of an internal communications campaign. You can customize all the graphic assets of the game, including the main character Pacman, the enemies, and the items to be collected to perfectly match your project. Is your audience ready to embody your hero in this retro-adventure?
